Camping Event

(The group arrives at the campsite on the top of the mountain)

On 3-4 February 2007 Heng Soknang and his friends (university students) went camping in Chrey Ho Phnov Mountain, which is located in Kang Pisey District of Kompong Speu Province.

Our objectives are to:

1- “Getting to Know Each Other”. It is the new theme raised by COMMUNITY EVENT - a group of volunteer students for society - in order to discuss among university students regarding social issues as well as attaching themselves into the real nature.
2 “Building the people network” – the students have opportunities to throw themselves into the real community (remote areas) and learn from the place and vice versa.

Improvement of Rural Children Awareness

Mr Sambo Manara delivers his speech to the participants.
(10 December 2006)

Children are bamboo shoots for a nation, but most of them are not neither aware of the significance of the knowledge nor have its objectives for their future. About 70 percent of elementary students say that their ambitions are to be teachers, after finishing schools. They seem to know only the brightness around their villages. Career as a teacher is very popular among them. Importance of other jobs such as engineer, lawyer, architect and how to become these has never spread to the countryside; therefore, how do those children get the chance to live happily when they are old enough?

In order to help the society, especially in the field of the educational system, a team comprised of about 100 university students from the University of Cambodia (UC), Panasastra University of Cambodia (PUC), and Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP), go to 2 schools in Takeo Province on 10 December 2006 (Human Rights’ Day). This group is lead by Mr Sambo Manara, a lecturer. On that occasion, roughly 700 students and 40 teachers in Ang Metrei Elementary School and Sam Rorng Elementary School of Angkor Borei District? greet the delegation warmly and joyfully.

Our objectives are 1)- to demonstrate significance of the knowledge, 2)- to encourage those pupils to strive to learn and tell them not to skip schools, and 3)- to bring some stationery parcels for the students.

The program finishes at 4:00 pm, and the group arrives in Phnom Penh at 7:00 pm safe and sound. We feel very enjoyable in this trip.

Please be informed that all friends will be welcomed warmly to take part in this group activities.

Ampe Phnom Tourist Center

Ampe Phnom Tourist Center is located about 48 km from Phnom Penh, in Kravan Commune, Chbar Mon District of Kompong Speu Province. You would spend one hour and a half to reach that place.

If you visit there, you will see a rope bridge linking 2 villages with a river. You can also have a walk under many huge trees growing along the river banks. Monkeys are interesting! They will welcome you by climbing up and down from one branch of the tree to another, but don't forget to buy bananas for them.

Ampe Phnom Tourist Center

As for someone (with a partner) who needs to eat out and a secret talk about their story (…), lots of small huts are erected to satisfy them.

Therefore, would you like to go by motorbike or car or tourist bus?

However, I recommend that you to travel by motorcycle, or moped, or scooter because it is probably more romantic.

In November or December, taking photographs in the rice field along the street is the most attractive for us.
